This is a statue of Gong Zizhen, a poet in the Qing Dynasty. Gong Zizhen August 22, 1792 to September 26, 1841. Han nationality, born in Lin`an now Hangzhou of Zhejiang Province. Thinkers, writers and pioneers of reformism in Qing Dynasty. He is a 27 year old middle school student and a 38 year old Jinshi. He once served as Minister of cabinet, chief of zongrenfu and chief of Ministry of rites. He advocated to get rid of malpractice and resist foreign aggression. He once fully supported Lin Zexu in banning opium. At the age of 48, he resigned and returned to the South and died in Yunyang Academy in Danyang, Jiangsu Province the next year. His poems advocated `changing the law` and `changing the map`, exposing the corruption of the Qing Dynasty rulers, full of patriotic enthusiasm, and was praised as `the first class in 300 years` by Liu Yazi. He is the author of Ding`an anthology, with more than 300 articles and nearly 800 poems.
