| Paragliding and its cousin hang gliding are off chutes of parachuting,it's their design and use that sets one apart from the other. With parachuting the primary purpose is to safely slow your ascent,with both paragliding and hang gliding you are actually flying. The main difference here being,with the hang gliding you lay flat out and have a more ridged frame and sail,while paragliding you sit in a harness and have a flexible sail.
