Full view of the Elevador de Santa Justa (or elevador do Carmo) from Rua de Santa Justa. The lift is a neo gothic 13m high tower built i 1874 by the architect Raul Mesnier de Ponsard that brings people up and down from the end rua de Santa Justa, in the lower baixa to the higher Largo do Carmo. Since its construction, the Lift has become a tourist attraction for Lisbon as, among the urban lifts in the city, Santa Justa is the only remaining vertical one.
