Besseggen is a mountain ridge in the Vågå area of the Norwegian region of Innlandet. It is located in the east of Jotunheimen, between Lakes Gjende and Bessvatnet. The route along the Besseggen ridge is one of the most popular treks in Norway. Lake Gjende is green, which is caused by the mud that is introduced into the lake along with the water of the melting glacier.
