Occurrence: The chestnut tree`s area of occurrence covers the Amazon regions, extending from Bolivia, Peru and Brazil, to the Guiana shield, including Suriname, the Guianas and southern Venezuela, in the Rio Negro region. The terra firme areas are the places where the species presents good development, not tolerating flooded areas or high water retention. There are clusters of 50 to 100 individuals, with 1 to 26 mature trees per hectare.
